Luna Sola
I reach for the sun only after it’s fled from my grasp,
Radiant and fair, golden satin;
The palm fronds catch your winter glow
And sparkle like diamonds skipping across the lake.
The ball has begun - she never came.
Alone you sat, your eyes so dry;
The tears were chased away by lilies
Offered for a moment’s peace.
O Luna Sola!
Tell me she’s here, be it so.
The damselflies drift by to give their condolences.
They twirl and spin;
Splendid grandeur at the dance -
All needless vanities now - you sigh,
Watching the hands circle into infinity.
Come here,
Your Odonata cries in sorrow.
The moonlight is mine,
But I want the sun.
O Luna Sola!
Tell me he’s here, be it so.
My sisters brush away my tears with their wings.
Chills of frost and ice
Rise as I slip
Into dreams without end
Until the sunrise, my dear.
